In South Korea Community Wealth Building is a growing practice since 2023, especially in the municipalities of Ulsan Dong-gu and Yeongam-gun.

The Democracy Collaborative has worked closely with colleagues of The Hope Institute in Seoul to develop various pilot programs into a thriving movement.

The Hope Institute

The Hope Institute is a citizen-based research organization based in Seoul, Korea.

It explores “Korean-style Community Wealth Building”, as an alternative regional economic strategy to solve the problems of population decline, hyper-aging, regional extinction crisis, concentration, and inequality in the metropolitan area.
